Congratulations to the 2020-2021 Rise Financial Progress Scholarship Winners!

For the third year in a row,  five students were awarded the RISE Financial Progress Scholarship, a program that promotes financial literacy.

Since the inaugural awards in 2019, our goal has been to support ambitious college students in achieving their dreams while also reducing the financial burden of higher education. We are thrilled to help these talented individuals pursue their academic careers.

This year’s recipients represent a range of talents and interests and are studying at universities across the country:

 

Tatum Lonack

Tatum recently graduated from Mountain View High School summa cum laude and plans to pursue a degree in biology at Virginia Tech this fall. She's received awards for outstanding academic achievement and completed the Early College Scholars Program shortly after graduating. Tatum received the Bronze Presidential Service Award in recognition of the service activities he participated in throughout high school. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society.

 

Vivian Starcheus

Vivian is an AP Scholar with Honor and Dublin, Ohio, Chamber of Commerce Community Champion who served as valedictorian for her high school graduating class. Her other distinctions include an honors diploma, membership in the National Honor Society, and the Rinker Ross Scholarship from Trine University in Indiana. Vivian enjoys dancing, the French language, cooking, traveling, being active and volunteering for the Red Cross.

 

Rachel Swick

Rachel is a student-athlete in the gymnastics program at SUNY Brockport and a Brockport Junior Eagle Gymnastics Program coordinator. Each semester, she’s received recognition on the Dean’s List with honors or the President’s List for her 3.92 cumulative GPA. Rachel is also a member of the Brockport Marketing Club and treasurer of the Brockport Rotaract Club.

 

Kaiden Forest

Kaiden is a recent high school graduate who’s currently working to receive his pilot’s license. This fall, he’ll be attending Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon, to pursue a degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology.

 

Abby Golick

Abby recently earned a dual diploma as a graduate of both Carson High School and Western Nevada College Association of Arts. A four-year varsity basketball player and team captain, she’ll be playing collegiate basketball at Linfield University this fall. Abby enjoys volunteering and is a three-time state champion in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) competitive events.

 

The RISE Financial Progress Scholarship awards recipients $3,000 to use toward their higher education expenses. Scholarship candidates must complete an online financial literacy course and write an essay on how the course helped them, whether it enabled them to help someone else and if they believe the course will aid them in reaching their financial goals.

The scholarship contest was open to students who are United States citizens or permanent residents, and who are currently enrolled in college or university classes or are signed up for the next semester. They must have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
